Project objectives:

The purpose of the IPA Multi Beneficiary Programme is to upgrade the statistical system of Albania with

a view to accession. Hence, its objective is to improve the provision and quality for National Statistical

System of Albania by allocating support that is aimed at:

  • taking the process of progressively integrating the Albania National Statistical Institute (INSTAT) into

the European Statistical System (ESS) forward by strengthening the NSI and its coordinating role in the

National Statistical System.

  • continuing to support sustainable capacity building of INSTAT for enabling them to better meet the

needs of their users by providing data that is accurate, reliable, timely and compiled in full compliance with

the EU acquis;

  • intensifying efforts to improve the quality of statistical information and to reinforce confidence in

methods and professionalism, thus providing policy makers and the international community with

unquestioned statistical data.

Project results:

  • This action is composed of 9 statistical projects. The expected results are as follows:

    • Availability, quality and comparability of statistics through a set of appropriate statistical projects improved;
    • INSTAT administrative capacity strengthened;
    • Cooperation between ESS and INSTAT improved;
    • The role of INSTAT as the coordinator of the NSS strengthened.
