Project objectives:

SALSTAT II is part of the umbrella project “Strong Municipalities”, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. The overall project “Strong Municipalities” focuses more broadly on different aspects of local development in Albania, supporting decentralization and local governance. The SALSTAT Il component focuses on the improvement and the availability of statistical information on the local and regional level, which will foster and streamline the regional development processes and the democratization on the local level.

 Project results:

The main project results related to project indicators are as follows:

• To support INSTAT to build-up and strengthen the statistical system of Albania by providing a sustainable statistical data system that is important for the country on its strive to become a member of the European Union;
• To enable municipality administrations to fulfil their functions and duties in an efficient, effective manner by providing reliable statistical information
• To set up key components of basic registers for specific administrative and statistical purposes, particularly on the regional and local level.
