Project objectives:

Switzerland intends to support census operations in order to improve the performance and sustainability of the Albanian statistical system as well as to enhance the democratization and decentralization process in Albania through transparent and reliable statistical information. Main objectives:

• Valorise and disseminate up-to-date information on the population in Albania at both national and decentralised levels
• Strengthen the analytical capacity of INSTAT in in-depth post census analysis
• Ensure reliability and timeliness of data processing
• Validation of 2011 PHC through a post-enumeration survey (PES)
• Support the updating of detailed socio-economic and health related information complementary to Census (through the LSMS 2012)

 Project results:

• Implementation of a plan for the publication and dissemination of the final results of the census at national and prefecture levels.
• Increased capacity for designing, conducting and communicating statistical analysis at INSTAT
• Post census in-depth analysis of policy-relevant topics are disseminated in the form of six separate publications and launched in a public conference
• The data processing premises of INSTAT headquarters is equipped
• A quality report on the data from thr PHC 2011(coverage and content errors) is provided to INSTAT based on PES
• A methodology for the adjustment of the census statistics is provided to INSTAT
• Field work implemented for the LSMS 2012
