The Institute of Statistics of Albania (INSTAT) has planned to conduct the next Census of Population and Housing in 2020.

Censi aims to provide the Assembly, the Government, local government units, economic, scientific and cultural organizations, as well as the entire civil society with reliable statistical data, necessary for the planning and implementation of general development policies, for private analysis and public decision-making, for scientific research and in general for improving the knowledge and understanding by citizens of the demographic, economic and social reality of the country.

Censi provides data on:

a) number and geographical distribution of the resident population;
b) demographic structure and main characteristics of the population;
c) the number, geographical distribution and structure of dwellings and buildings used for residential purposes;
ç) housing conditions of the population

Obligation to respond

All adults, with Albanian or foreign citizenship, as well as stateless persons, with the exception of diplomatic staff accredited in Albania, who at the moment of Cens are living within the territory of the Republic of Albania, are obliged to provide information. required in the Cens questionnaires, in accordance with point 2, letter "ç", paragraph "iii" of article 10 of this law.
